Why This Association?

This group was formed after an organizational meeting held in Carlisle, PA in 1992. Our first annual conference was held in 1993. The purpose of the group is to provide an organized voice to represent concerns of our members to the state government and authorities having jurisdiction. The second purpose is to provide ongoing educational opportunities to our members and other interested people. Our annual conference is held during the first weekend in October each year and is usually in Harrisburg, PA which is a somewhat central location for most members state-wide.

How Are We Formed?

The PAHMT is a state-wide organization which is divided into three regions.

How Do We Work?

The Directors represent the teams and members on the Board of Directors. The Directors work for the members to represent their views to the Association and to various Commonwealth Agencies who work with hazardous materials in the field, in the lab, and in the Legislature. The Directors serve as a focal point to pass information both to and from hazardous materials response teams and Association members and the Board.

To make the organization strong, the Directors need input from you, the Association member. Together, we can and will make the Pennsylvania Hazardous Materials Technicians Association a better organization!
